Hour 1 - A Peek at the Mendoza Line

On the night Fernando Mendoza made his exhibition debut for the Las Vegas Raiders, he completed a few passes, averaged 6.1 yards per attempt against backups, and then told reporters the Las Vegas Strip reminds him of a childhood haunted house. He said the playbook is his girlfriend. He has shut down social media until the season ends. Ben Maller, host of the overnight Fox Sports Radio show that bears his name, took this as an invitation to spend an hour unpacking what it means when the face of a franchise built on outlaw mystique describes himself as "psycho about football" in the most risk-averse way possible.

The Anti-Raider

Maller's central argument is that Mendoza has become the living antithesis of everything the Raiders once stood for. "When I was growing up, the Raiders were machismo," Maller says. "They were a different breed. Misfits, renegades, outlaws. Bad guys, bad boys who looked like they would steal your wallet and your girlfriend at the same time before kickoff." Now the team's savior is a 22-year-old who compares a street lined with casinos to a haunted house and voluntarily describes himself as a square.
