AI Summary

Meta employees are competing on an internal leaderboard called "Claudonomics" for status as a "token legend," according to reporting from The Information. Over a recent 30-day period, total usage on the dashboard topped 60.2 trillion tokens, sparking a debate about how much Meta is actually spending with Anthropic. The headline number that took everyone by surprise was that this usage would pencil out to about a third of Anthropic's annualized run rate revenue — which itself just passed $30 billion, one of the steepest revenue growth charts in history. But both claims are questionable.
The Token Math
Tyler did back-of-the-envelope math to show the one-third revenue estimate is way too high. If you assume all 60.2 trillion tokens were output on Opus 4.6 at $25 per million tokens, you get roughly $1 billion in a month. But that's not what's happening. On OpenRouter, about 98.9% of all tokens are input (including cached ones), with only about 1.1% as output. Using those ratios, the cost drops to about $136 million a month, or $1.6 billion a year — still huge, but far less than the $12 billion annualized figure that would represent a third of Anthropic's ARR.
