5 min read“My daughter is twenty-two and she just graduated from college with some student loan debt… she was able to get on the pre-sale and buy three tickets to go to a Taylor Swift concert. We got them for like two hundred and nine dollars apiece.” The father on the Ramsey show wanted to sell the tickets for a $9,000 profit to knock down her loans. Rachel Cruze and Ken Coleman told him no. Keep the tickets. Make the memories. That moment — a Ramsey personality greenlighting a $9,000 concert splurge over debt payoff — sets the stage for this episode of Smart Money Happy Hour. Rachel Cruze and George Kamel go through a series of classic Ramsey rules and rate, on a scale of 1 to 10, how strictly they actually enforce them. The throughline is that the Ramsey brand is often assumed to be rigidly black-and-white, but the hosts argue there is real nuance — especially when someone is already behaving responsibly with their money.
