Last night in Waco, Texas, Tesla unveiled a flying Roadster that can do zero to 60 in under one second, go upside down using fan suction, and hit 380 kilometers per hour in its rocket version. "There's nothing to stop you from strapping a rocket to your car," Peter Diamandis noted on this episode of Moonshots, though Salim Ismail immediately asked the practical question: "What would be the cost of insurance for that?"
The conversation ranged across three breaking stories and a deeper inquiry into incentives, AI alignment, and human purpose, with Diamandis joined by co-hosts Salim Ismail and Imad, plus Anousheh Ansari, CEO of the XPRIZE.
The Cost of Robot Intelligence Is Collapsing
The most striking data point came from a Y Combinator startup's benchmark called RoboDojo RC Tier 1, which measures how well a model can drive a physical robot through subtasks. The cost for a frontier model to complete a robot subtask fell from $2.36 in July to 38 cents in September—an 84% drop. "Halving in cost every three weeks means it effectively goes to zero within the year," Imad said. "We've been looking at AI that doubles every 10 weeks and that's been mind-boggling. Halving every three weeks may be the fastest moving capability we've ever seen."
