"What Could Go Wrong?" — Cast Party: A Dungeons & Dragons Podcast

The session opens with a deceptively idyllic scene: Rona, a young dragonborn, is playing soccer with lower-city kids in the courtyard of his family's upper-city villa, Manor Manac. He's joyful, confident, finally sharing his privileged space with friends. But when his mother, Duke Yasha Manak, returns and sees the children on her lawn, the mood curdles instantly. A stray ball shatters a vase, and she banishes the children back to the lower city while dragging Rona inside — not to his old room, but to a dark, rickety staircase leading to the basement. "Welcome to Cast Party," the Dungeon Master says dryly. "I hate myself after that cold open."

That opening is a microcosm of the episode's central tension: the gap between who Rona wants to be and the forces — family, magic, expectations — that keep pulling him in other directions. What follows is a dense, emotionally charged session about loyalty, manipulation, and the terrifying proposition of being offered exactly what you think you want.
