This is the moment “Swords And Scales” earns its name: a fight that is less about winning initiative and more about holding the line against a dragon that doesn’t play fair.

The episode follows a single, extended combat encounter deep inside a mountain on the world of Icaria. The party—split into two smaller groups in the previous session—has reunited to climb toward the impact site of Lyos’ orbital. Inside, they find a lab full of dead lunites, thought plates about the mysterious “resonance,” and a mirror that forces each character to confront a painful memory from their past on Earth. Those visions unlock new power: every character’s ring transforms into a more potent form, and the party emerges into a cavern where moonlight streams down through the impact crater above. There, a pile of wrecked orbital debris is topped by a humming device, and the metallic dodecahedron that fell into Twin Rivers has reconstituted itself into a smoke dragon.

Combat as layered pressure
