The Invisible Assistant Thesis
The general population does not care about being 10 percent more efficient. That is the starting point for understanding what might actually work. People do not want to manage their assistant. They want it to disappear. “You hire an assistant to allow it to be invisible,” Pawlan says. The best employees he has ever had are the ones who just do their work, update you, and move on. You do not hire someone because you enjoy managing them.

David has been testing dozens of assistants across real-world tasks, from managing email and booking travel to handling financial admin. They discuss why the most useful agents may become increasingly invisible, proactively checking you into flights, finding refunds, filing reimbursements, or simply handling the small tasks that pile up across everyday life.
