The Monument Mythos: An Alternate History of American Monsters

In the first episode of the series, a 1984 video shows something emerging from the pedestal beneath the Statue of Liberty. The blueprints for that pedestal, classified for 36 years, reveal an engine, axles, wheels, and a waste storage area—as if the statue was designed for eventual departure. Immigrants on Ellis Island had reported a foul smell of flesh and seeing people ushered into the pedestal at night. This is the opening thread of the Monument Mythos, an alternate history series created by Alex Kansas, in which the U.S. government and other world powers are hiding supernatural creatures within American landmarks, using them for purposes that become increasingly sinister as the story unfolds.
