Revelations: Cecil's Abduction and the Apocalypse to Come

After months of silence, Cecil is back in the studio—changed, exhausted, and carrying three revelations from a god named Dale. The last time listeners heard from him, a man with a face that flickers like a television screen stood on the ceiling of his studio and reached for him. That was the beginning of Cecil's journey "behind the sky," to a place called the Cleansing Grove, where he was held as a guest—or a captive, depending on how you define water skiing in total darkness.

Behind the False Sky

The Cleansing Grove sits between the false sky and the realm beyond, "like a layer of cream filling between wafer cookies," where one wafer is a flat facade and the other is incomprehensible infinity. Dale told Cecil he wasn't ready to see the realm beyond because its beauty would be so overwhelming he would "instantly claw my own eyes out." Instead, Cecil was kept in the grove, a place with no wind, no sun, no moon—pitch black at all times. The extreme quiet and removal from all stimulus was designed to make him question whether he had a body, whether his thoughts were his own, whether time was real. This was preparation for receiving Dale's revelations.
