Ep 1435 | He Was Dying. Then Someone Prayed & He Lived for YEARS

The Robertson family is joined by Chris and Shelly, who host the sister podcast Rockin' It, and the conversation begins with a confession: Jase has a habit of showing up at their houses to "aerate" their yards with a metal detector. He once spent an afternoon digging for Civil War relics on Shelly’s property near Lake Providence, found a few silver coins, and donated them to her grandkids. This leads into a longer, affectionate saga about the Robertsons living as rednecks in a yuppie neighborhood—skinning deer in the front yard, keeping chickens, and fixing a gate that nobody else wanted to pay for after an ice storm. Jase compares the neighbors who didn’t thank him to the ten lepers in the Bible, noting that only John Reed came by to express gratitude. The humor is self-deprecating and grounded in the real friction of family and community life.

Show Notes

Jase looks back on the awkward reality of working for his younger brother Willie and the one condition he had before taking orders from him. Authors Chrys Howard and Shellie Rushing Tomlinson, hosts of the new eKKL podcast “Rocking It,” join Jase and Al for stories about Robertson family chaos, neighborhood growing pains, and the people who stick with you through every season of life. Al revisits a powerful moment when church elders prayed over and anointed a man who was expected to have only an hour left to live, and his condition suddenly turned around. Jase and Al dig into James 5 to consider patience, healing, suffering, spiritual maturity, and what it really means to trust God when the outcome isn’t what you hoped for.
