AI Summary
5 min readIn the finale of Spider-Noir, the character who has been the show's most obvious noir archetype—the world-weary, double-crossing femme fatale—is the one who solves the central mystery and kills the villain. Cat Hardy, not Ben Reilly, reveals she was the rat who burned down Silvermane's house and set the entire season in motion. She then shoots Silvermane to death in a hall of mirrors, a sequence the hosts praise as stylish even if its geography is slightly off. The episode, "Man Behind the Mask," written by showrunner Oren Uziel and directed by Greg Tanis, wraps up every major character arc while leaving the door open for a second season.
The Kidnapping and the Negotiation
The episode opens with Silvermane's enforcers, Megawatt and Sandman, following Cat to a meeting with Janet, Ben Reilly's secretary. The hosts note a key character moment: Sandman tells the arrogant Megawatt, "Do you ever shut the hell up? The crash is coming and you just can't feel it. You will be dead soon." This foreshadows the alliance's collapse. Janet slaps Cat once for Ben and once for herself after learning Cat never truly loved Ben—she loved Flint Marco. When Janet visits Robbie Robertson's apartment to retrieve the antidote, she is followed, and Ben is captured.

Episode Synopsis:
After learning that Ben Reilly has an antidote for the superpowers, Cat Hardy arranges a meeting with his secretary Janet.
Cat asks Janet to get the antidote to her so she can cure Flint Marko and Dirk Leyden. But they were watching and they follow Janet to Robbie Robertson's place and they capture the recovering Ben Reilly
Silvermane forces Ben to contact the Spider, with Robbie posing as him, and orders the antidote brought to the Alcove bar.
After Dirk Leyden recognizes Ben from the war, Silvermane realizes Ben is the Spider and threatens Cat to make him confess.
To protect Ben, Cat reveals she is the one who betrayed Silvermane. Before Silvermane can kill her, Robbie arrives dressed as the Spider.
Thinking he's The Spider, Megawatt injects Robbie with the cure and electrocutes him, then tries to persuade Flint Marko to help overthrow Silvermane.
Ben regains use of his webbing and fights the two powerful fighters, while Cat tracks down and kills Silvermane.
Sandman turns on Leyden after he attacks Cat. The Spider gets the better of Megawatt and kills him by throwing him into an incoming train.
Ben gives the last antidote dose to Flint Marko, sacrificing his only chance to become human again so Cat and Flint can be together.
In the aftermath of Silvermane’s death, Mayor Morris is reelected, Robbie leaves the Daily Bugle to lead the Harlem Herald, and Ben and Janet renovate their joint office, now called "Reilly and Ruiz Investigations".
