The Body in the Shed

When officers knocked on the door that evening, the woman who answered looked genuinely confused. She told them she had no idea why anyone would call saying her father-in-law's body had been moved to the shed. David Senior, she explained, had moved out weeks ago. His brother had picked him up and taken him to Columbus. She was a nursing student with clinicals in the morning, and the last thing she expected was police on her doorstep.

But the officers kept pressing. They had received a tip from a teenage girl named Emily Walls, who was best friends with Nevea Stroud—a young woman who had briefly lived with the family before being asked to leave. Nevea had been at the house just hours earlier, visiting the daughter. The officers wanted to know how these teenagers could possibly know about a body in the shed if nothing had happened.
