The Plan to Lure Seth

On a Sunday night in a small neighborhood, 15-year-old Amber called her ex-boyfriend Seth, a boy she said had been physically abusive to her during their relationship. She told him she wanted to make up, to try being friends again. He agreed. She asked if her friend Charlie could walk with her to meet him. He said sure. What Amber did not tell Seth was that her brother Mike had been talking to her earlier that day about a plan. According to what she later admitted to investigators, Mike had told her he wanted to kill Seth. Her role in the plan was to lure Seth to the house.

Amber, Charlie, and Seth met on the street and talked. Seth got a text from his mother telling him to come home. They argued. Seth walked off. Amber and Charlie went back to Charlie's house. About an hour later, Seth showed up at the door wanting to talk things through. He sat down in the living room with Amber and Charlie. Kyle, another person in the house, was already there. For about five minutes, Seth and Amber talked quietly about trying to be friends again, with Seth apologizing for putting his hands on her. Then Kyle got up.
