What inflammation actually is
Inflammation is your immune system going into attack mode. When a cold virus, a bacteria, or a wound enters the body, the immune system sends immunity cells and chemicals to get rid of the invader and repair the damage. That's acute inflammation, and it's something humans have understood since ancient times. The redness and swelling around a wound, the sore throat from a cold—those are visible signs of your body fixing itself.
