Comedy Bang! Bang! Live In Seattle, WA 2016

"Man, when you're a kid, summer freedom means sleeping in, no homework, and no one telling you what to do." That's Scott Aukerman opening a Threedom episode that isn't really Threedom at all. Because Threedom is on hiatus until September, Aukerman has decided to re-release a live Comedy Bang! Bang! episode from 2016 — specifically the May 25 show at Seattle's Moore Theater, near the end of a tour that left the performers "more and more insane as the days went by." What follows is a fake talk show with four comedians playing invented characters, each with their own comic logic that slowly corrodes the show's structure.

The Host and His Guests

Aukerman plays himself as the befuddled talk show host. His first guest is Paul F. Tompkins as Gary Marshall — a fictionalized version of the real director Garry Marshall, now elderly and obsessed with bodily functions, locker room talk, and the sitcoms he produced in the 1970s. Marshall immediately derails the show by complaining about the human body's design ("our mouths are here, our butt holes are down here") and proposing that humans should just be floating brains in jars. He also recounts a "very special episode" of Happy Days about racism featuring a black character named Sticks who played drums, and a character named Bag who called a meeting about bigoted parents.
