The grades at Mostaza are striking. Garrett notes that the first drill hole returned "twenty metres of 3.3 percent copper and 270 gram silver" — not porphyry-type grades, but more like IOCG (iron oxide copper gold) mantle style mineralization. What makes the system unusual is that it sits within a porphyry system but isn't porphyry itself. "It's one of those quirky gray area things," Garrett says, "but the important thing for our shareholders and stakeholders understand is that it's high grade."

Great Southern Copper released financial results recently, in which it outlined the significant progress made on its projects in Chile during the year. Post period end the work has continued, and the company is now gearing up for a fourth phase of drilling that will move it closer to establishing a maiden resource.
