Stole an Idea, Built It in 12 Hours, Sold for $15K in 8 Days

The Origin Story

Josh saw a tweet from Greg Eisenberg of IdeaBrasserie.com about a domain-finding tool. Someone tagged Josh in the reply. He knew immediately it would eat at him. So he replied publicly: "I have plans this week." The next morning, he tweeted again: "I'm building this."

That public commitment was deliberate. Josh has been doing this for years — in 2013, he tweeted something similar about building a Stripe analytics tool, which eventually became Bear Metrics and sold for millions in 2020. The pattern is the same: tweet the idea, create accountability, and let the thread become both marketing and customer acquisition.

The 12-Hour Build

Josh woke up at 4:30 AM on July 15th and started working. By 8:50 AM, he tweeted that he was building it. By 7 PM that evening, the product was live.

The first thing he did was name it. He uses Claude with a WHOIS MCP (Model Context Protocol) to check domain availability in real time. He feeds Claude words related to the concept — "find," "snipe," "acquire," "domains" — and asks for 20 name ideas. Claude checks each one against WHOIS and reports back which .coms and .AIs are available. If nothing works, he asks for 50 more. He repeats until something sticks.
