The central problem, Sadhguru argues, is not that you have negative thoughts. It is that your mind is running unconsciously, producing thoughts you never chose, while you exhaust yourself trying to fight them. The real solution has nothing to do with suppressing anger or fear. It has to do with learning where the keyboard is.
The mind is a machine you haven't learned to operate
Sadhguru describes the human mind as "the most sophisticated computer on the planet." It can produce joy, fear, anxiety, tranquility, agony, or ecstasy. The problem is that most people do not know how to operate it. "You don't know where the keyboard is, so you're punching all the wrong numbers," he says. "All kinds of things are happening."
The result is that the same mind that could produce miracles instead becomes a "misery manufacturing machine." The goal is not to fight the products—anger, fear, resentment—but to stop the production line entirely and start a different one. "You just have to stop the production line and start a different product," Sadhguru says. Joy and bliss come from the same mind. The issue is that the mind is not taking instructions from you.
There is no such thing as a negative thought
