The betrayal is the real issue

Dave Ramsey immediately identified two distinct problems: the lost money and the destroyed trust. He told the caller the second one is harder. "You no longer trust your husband because he lies," he said. When the caller acknowledged this, Ramsey pressed further. The husband had apologized, but that was it. He had not agreed to marriage counseling. He said he "wasn't ready yet."

Ramsey was blunt. "He ought to be on his knees begging forgiveness. Not only did he lie, he was stupid with the money." The caller admitted she was trying to give grace.
