Here is a summary of the podcast episode.

Most people are not living their lives; they are watching them. They are waiting for permission, for the right time, or for someone else to hand them the life they want. The central argument of this episode is that this passivity is not a character flaw but a direct result of how we are conditioned. From birth until adulthood, we are trained to obey external authority, and many of us never formally take the wheel of our own lives. The result is that we live inside an invisible box of inherited limits, operating at a fraction of our true potential without ever realizing it.

The Invisible Box of Inherited Limits

The foundation of this problem is laid in the first 18 years of life. For those formative years, almost every decision is made for you: when to wake up, what to learn, when to speak, and even when to use the bathroom. You are trained to follow instructions and wait for permission. Then, at 18, society tells you to be an adult, but nothing internal has fundamentally changed. There is no rite of passage, no ceremony where authority is formally handed over to you. In contrast, many indigenous cultures have a vision quest or walkabout that marks a clear transition from child to adult. In the West, we get a driver’s license and a graduation cap, but no genuine handover of power.
