The Lone Juror Who Broke the Liberal Script

A single detail from the Lindsey Clancy trial has forced a moment of cognitive dissonance for liberals who had already decided the outcome. The jury in the case of the Massachusetts mother who killed her three children was deadlocked—eleven jurors voted to acquit on grounds of insanity, but one lone holdout refused to go along. When a juror appeared on CBS Mornings and revealed that the holdout was a Black man, the host's reaction said everything: "Oh, I need to sit with that."

The moment matters because it demolishes the reflexive liberal narrative that racial identity determines moral judgment. The same week a Black woman on Oprah argued that white supremacy explains why Lindsey Clancy receives sympathy while Black women who kill their children are ignored, the only person on the jury insisting on accountability was a Black man. As the host put it, the call was coming from inside the house.
