Donald Trump has no economic plan, and the mayhem he is causing is having severe negative consequences for anyone living in the United States—unless you are one of his oligarch buddies. While Trump says affordability is a "made up word" and a "massive hoax," he also claims he has brought down prices and that we are in a "golden age." He told Time Magazine that inflation is actually good because it is helping pay off the debt "very rapidly." The debt has exceeded $40 trillion. The deficit continues to increase, and treasury yields—the 10-, 20-, and 30-year—are painting a grim picture of long-term instability. The jobs report was far below expectations: only 29,000 jobs were created in September versus the expected 85,000 to 90,000, and August was revised downward by 29,000 jobs. Wage growth hit a five-year low of 3%, which is entirely wiped out by 3.4% inflation. Manufacturing input costs are surging, agriculture prices are rising due to fertilizer shortages and disrupted export markets, and tourism-dependent states like Nevada are getting crushed as international visitors stay away.
