The MeidasTouch Podcast opens with a cascade of developments converging as Xi Jinping arrives in Washington, D.C. — and none of them are going Donald Trump's way. A federal judge appointed by Trump himself granted an injunction restoring White House press credentials to MSNBC, CNN, and Politico, defeating Trump's media ban in what the hosts describe as the first thing Trump woke up to. "He is not taking it well at all," the episode notes.
The Xi Jinping Visit: Optics and Oddities
The episode spends considerable time on Trump's behavior during Xi's arrival ceremony. Trump had Air Force and Army personnel get down on their hands and knees to greet Xi. When a military flyover occurred, Trump visibly flinched and winced at the noise — which the hosts contrast with Xi's reaction: "She didn't flinch." The hosts point to this as another data point about Trump's cognitive state, noting that people with dementia often struggle to process loud noises.
There is also extensive discussion of Trump's appearance during the 65-degree meeting. He wore a heavy trench coat and gloves, which the hosts interpret as an attempt to hide his hands. "Everybody is talking about how sickly Donald Trump looked," they report, adding that this is the conversation happening in China and Asia.
