The MeidasTouch hosts opened this episode with a grim inventory: in the past 48 hours, four to five tankers were struck in the Strait of Hormuz, bridges and power plants were hit in Kyiv, and diesel prices continue surging to record highs. Donald Trump still claims he controls the strait—calling it "the Strait of Trump"—but the facts tell a different story. The war in Ukraine that Trump promised to resolve in 24 hours after the 2024 election is escalating, not ending. Putin has been stockpiling weapons, and Trump promised Zelensky interceptors and other aid that never arrived.
The Arsonist Blames the Firefighters
The hosts spent considerable time dissecting Trump's closing argument strategy ahead of the midterms. His message, they argued, is contradictory and desperate. On one hand, Trump claims everything is a "golden age"—the best economic numbers, the best inflation numbers, the best trade numbers in history. On the other hand, he warns that if Democrats win the House or Senate, "we will end up in a financial depression... the likes of which we've never seen before. It'll be 1929."

Show Notes
On this episode of the MeidasTouch Podcast, Ben, Brett and Jordy discuss a rapidly widening global crisis as tankers are struck in the Strait of Hormuz, Russia escalates its assault on Ukraine, and Americans get slammed by record-high diesel prices and surging gas costs. The brothers break down Trump’s claims that he “controls” the Strait even as he moves thousands more U.S. troops and another carrier strike group toward the Middle East, raising the stakes of an already catastrophic war. They also examine Trump’s threats against U.S. allies over emergency fuel supplies, his bogus $54 billion South Korea announcement, and Canada’s accelerating push to reduce its dependence on the United States. Finally, they cut through the propaganda surrounding the escalating conflicts and examine Trump’s increasingly desperate message as the midterms close in.
