Ukraine Expands Deep Strikes Into Russia as War With Moscow Escalates

Zelensky launched a massive drone swarm of around 2,000 drones into Russia, striking targets as far as Omsk in Siberia—some 2,500 to 3,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. This happened at the same time as Elon Musk openly throttled Starlink access for Ukrainian drone operations, claiming Ukraine violated terms of service, and told critics they could "burn in hell."

The Drone Campaign

Ukrainian long-range Firepoint 1 drones hit multiple high-value targets across Russia in a coordinated wave. In Omsk, drones struck the Omsky Kachuk rubber petrochemical facility and destroyed an Ozon logistical facility—the Russian equivalent of an Amazon warehouse. The Ozon strikes follow a pattern of Ukraine systematically targeting Russian logistics infrastructure. In Toliati, about 1,700 kilometers from the border, the Toliati Kachuk petrochemical plant was hit hard. Closer to Ukraine, in Oriol, drones struck the Proton electronics facility; a Yesk airfield was also hit; and in the Belgorod region, the Megagrin shopping center—a 163,000-square-meter complex with over 200 stores, restaurants, and a cinema—was struck at night when it was closed. Local residents filmed drones buzzing overhead as air defense systems activated.
