The Squid Was the Good Guy All Along

Matt Walsh watched Netflix's Below so you don't have to. The show was sold to him as "Jaws with a giant killer squid"—an irresistible pitch for any middle-aged dad who loves horror and thinks about most movies in Jaws terms. The premise sounds straightforward. Josh Hartnett plays a man with a tragic past living in a remote Newfoundland fishing village. A giant iceberg arrives in the harbor. People start going missing. A squid is stalking the waters. But almost immediately, the show defies any expectation of coherence.

Show Notes

Netflix has reached a new low with 'Below'. This could've been an easy layup, but instead Netflix executives went back to making garbage that parodies themselves.
