On the Glenn Beck Program, a new poll from Justin Haskins reveals alarming numbers about young Americans' political views. Nearly half of 25- to 29-year-olds said they would support dismantling Israel and replacing it with a Palestinian state in exchange for cheap oil and gas and ending the war with Iran. Among 18- to 24-year-olds, 46% agreed. Among voters over 40, support dropped to 3%. The episode uses these findings to explore a deeper problem: the preference for dramatic narratives over boring, fixable failures.
The Polling Data: What Young Americans Actually Believe
Haskins, who has conducted dozens of polls tracking ideological radicalization, presented several findings from a new survey of likely voters. Asked who they hope will win the ongoing war between the United States and Iran, 6% of all voters said Iran and 10% said they don't care. But among Democrats, less than 50% said they want the United States to win. A quarter of Democrats either want Iran to win or don't care who wins.
When asked who is most to blame for the war, 39% said Iran's government, while 41% said the U.S. government — the plurality answer. Among Democrats and young people, the numbers were much higher: 77% of Democrats blamed either the U.S. or Israel.
