An Important Announcement from Ashley Flowers

“I sometimes call The Deck my second baby.” That’s how Ashley Flowers opens this brief, personal episode of The Deck — a show she launched just five days after giving birth to her daughter, four and a half years ago. The timing was absurd, she admits, but the mission was urgent. She had discovered a deck of cold case cards during her volunteer days with Crime Stoppers, filled with cases she had never heard of — underrepresented, underreported, and often forgotten. She wanted to change that.

Now, she’s announcing that she’s stepping away as host of The Deck to focus her energy where she believes she can make the biggest impact: Crime Junkie, her philanthropic work, and her family.

The show’s origin and what it accomplished

Flowers explains that the idea for The Deck came directly from those cold case cards — physical decks distributed in prisons and jails, designed to generate tips from incarcerated individuals. Many of the cases on those cards had received little to no media coverage. She felt a strong pull to bring those stories to a wider audience, to give them the reporting and attention they deserved.
