A Preseason Night of Basketball, Real Drama

Nikola Jokic threw a pass that will live on his career highlight reel forever—a no-look, behind-the-back, cross-court missile that skipped past three Utah Jazz defenders and landed perfectly in Cam Johnson's shooting pocket for a corner three. The catch: it happened in a preseason game, on the University of Colorado's floor, in a 109-97 loss that won't count toward anything. Jokic had Lauri Markkanen on his back, didn't look at Johnson, and simply knew where his teammate should be based on court geometry and practice repetition. As Swiper put it, "It was like a prime Aaron Rodgers toss to Jordy Nelson or Greg Jennings, but a no look behind the back pass." The pass won't appear in any box score, but it's the kind of moment that reminds you Jokic remains one of the most creative players the sport has ever seen, now entering year 12 of doing things nobody else even attempts.
