5 min readMystery Booster 3 Dropped 20 New Commanders Overnight
Mystery Booster 3 appeared without warning, and it brought 60 brand-new legendary creatures designed for Commander draft. The hosts covered 20 of them in a rapid-fire episode, and the set's power level is noticeably lower than recent releases — more quirky and build-around than busted. Availability is a concern: the product is only sold at conventions and online, though the hosts expect singles prices to drop as more events happen.
The Landfall Mill Deck That Doesn't Look Like One
Homer the Hermit is a Sultai 0/9 Crab Druid for three mana — a tarot reference (the Hermit major arcana) that reads silly but mills fast. Landfall triggers let each target player mill X cards, where X is twice the number of crabs, lobsters, nautiluses, starfish, or trilobites you control. The key insight: this is not really a sea creature deck. It's a Sultai landfall commander. With a single non-legendary clone of Homer, every landfall mills each opponent eight cards. Fetch lands, Aftermath Analyst, and Splendid Reclamation turn self-mill into a loop that dumps everyone's libraries. The hosts called Homer "sneaky good" and possibly the most powerful commander in the episode.
