The most important day of your life is happening, and your mother is asleep. Her head is on your sister's shoulder, and your sister is sleeping on your brother, and your brother is asleep on your aunt. That is the image Pastor Robbie Gallaty uses to open his message at The Church of Eleven22. Multiply that horror by ten, he says, and you will understand how Jesus felt when he brought his three closest friends to pray with him in Gethsemane—the hardest moment of his earthly life—and they could not stay awake for sixty minutes. The question Jesus asked them, Gallaty argues, is the same question he asks every Christian: "Could you not pray with me one hour?"
The Problem: Talking Instead of Listening
Gallaty builds his message around Peter, the disciple who insisted he would never deny Jesus even if everyone else fell away. Jesus told him plainly that he would deny him three times before the rooster crowed. Peter did not listen. He was too busy telling Jesus what he was going to do for God.

Show Notes
In Matthew 26, just hours before the cross, Jesus brings three of His closest friends with Him to pray, yet they can’t stay awake with Him. Night 1 of Saturated was a call for us to wake up, get on our knees and seek the Lord.
What if we spent less time telling God what to do and more time listening to what He’s saying? When was the last time you slowed down long enough to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit?
The world needs a Church that is awake in the garden. May we be people who seek His presence, listen for His voice and are obedient to what He asks of us today.
