The episode opens with a woman in her favorite heels, stood up on a Friday night, when a man with dark eyes and a wry smile catches her attention across the bar. Just one look, and she knows he can salvage the evening. A few drinks and some literary small talk later, she is pressed against his apartment door, his hand sliding up her back. But as the lock clicks open, he pulls back with an apologetic half-smile. He gives her a heads-up: the roommate inside will try to get her attention, but it is best to just ignore him. She follows him inside, past a silhouette on the couch, and into the bedroom. The warning seems eccentric but manageable—until her date slips back into the living room, leaving her alone. A soft knock comes at the door. The knob turns. The figure that enters is lean and long, head nearly too high for the frame. It is not her date. She remembers the warning and keeps her gaze fixed on the ceiling as the thing crawls up the wall, across the ceiling, and drops to the floor. It drags itself along the side of the bed, breathing, wheezing, laughing. It taunts her, daring her to look. She grabs her purse, yanks it free from something pulling back, and bolts for the door. On the wall, a shadow shows its head and neck still, but its mouth stretching away from its face, reaching for her.
