Agent Builders Are Pushing Past Tools Toward Digital Employees

The most striking pattern from nearly 100 agent submissions in the Agent Madness bracket: people are not building better tools for themselves. They are building digital employees and entire org charts. One submission called Herald positioned itself as an "AI chief of staff." DiamondDozon.ai gave its agents CEO, engineering, and marketing titles. MISE issued employee IDs and maintained a three-strike termination policy—and actually fired one agent for fabricating business logic. The host notes that in a very short time, the framing has shifted from AI assistant to AI employee to AI org chart, and the driving question across many projects is not whether AI can do work, but what the minimum viable level of human involvement is.

That said, the host does not believe this is where things will settle. "I think that it's very natural that we're in a phase where we're going to the absolute extremes to see what's possible," he says. The point of removing humans is not to prove zero is optimal, but to find where current coordination and capability break down.
