The bracer is a bug
Loravith, a Goliath, decides to test the rules. He reaches down and tears the bracer off his arm. As it comes free—the probe pulling out of his elbow—he feels his memories draining away: the spell stones he'd collected, his training with lightning lash, all of it flickering and fading. But his Goliath upbringing, his clan ceremonies, his exploration of the mountains—those give him something firm to hold onto. The central crystal in his grimoire shatters. The illusion dispels. He's holding not a gauntlet but a large segmented insect with crystals growing out of its back.
