Under Oondar Fire: The Party Returns to a Warped Hometown

The market stalls are still there, the technicolored trees still glow, and the familiar folk music still plays—but something is deeply wrong. The drow vendors have contorted faces and mutated bodies. Lizard tails sprout where they shouldn't. And slinking between the stalls are ten flesh warpers, grotesque Andarians with misshapen skulls and warped limbs, letting out pained moans as they patrol. This is what the party finds when they arrive at the Last Forest, the marketplace near Natty Wonder's hometown of Shady Pines Hollow. The war they thought they had won is not over. It has simply taken a new, more intimate form.

The Flashback Mechanic and a Homecoming Under Siege

Because this episode takes place in Natty's home territory, the Dungeon Master introduces a new game mechanic called the flashback. Once per session, when a character is in a location familiar to them, they can invent something about that place—a landmark, a cultural fact, a legend, a rumor, or a local contact. The player narrates the memory, then rolls dice to determine how accurate it turns out to be. This is not a gimmick; it is a structural signal that the party has entered a space where Natty's knowledge matters, where the stakes are personal, and where the past is not just backstory but a tool the players can reach for.
