When Pat Walls, the host of Starter Story, asked his guest how he taught himself to use Cursor and built a $300K AI app with almost no coding experience, the answer came fast. The guest discovered Cursor in August of the previous year. Within five minutes of using it, he had a realization that hit him like a physical force: he could now build enterprise-level software—the kind that used to require teams of hundreds of people—completely by himself, with no help. He had a working prototype on day one. He posted it to his community on X, asked what they thought and what he should add, and then spent the next six or seven months in a tight loop: get feedback, improve, get feedback, improve. That loop, not the tool itself, was the real engine.
