A three-hour build that now makes $34,000 a month

Pontus was on a three-hour flight to France when he noticed something strange. He had been watching videos about Cursor, the AI code editor, and kept seeing developers share "rules" — configuration files that customize how the editor behaves — scattered across obscure GitHub repos and forums. There was no single place to find them. By the time he landed at his Airbnb, he had called his co-founder Victor. "We need to build this directory for cursor rules." They coded for three hours straight, launched the site, and it took off immediately. That directory now does $34,000 a month in revenue with 99.8% profit margins, has 49,000 registered users, and 2.2 million unique visitors since launch. They maintain it for about three hours a month.

The idea came from noticing a pattern nobody had solved

The insight behind Cursor Directory was not complex. Pontus realized that developers using Cursor wanted to find and share rules — small configuration files that improve how the editor works — but had no centralized place to discover them. You could Google and find some, or dig through GitHub, but there was no clear answer. That gap was the entire opportunity. "It was kind of mind-blowing for me that there were no place to find these rules in one specific place," he says.
