Dawson Botsford built a crypto tracking app in a single afternoon that now generates over $1 million per year in revenue. He runs it entirely alone, lives out of a van, and has turned what began as a five-hour hackathon project into a profitable, low-maintenance business. The five-hour launch

The app, called AirdropAlert, lets users check whether a crypto wallet address is eligible for unclaimed token airdrops. Botsford built the first version during a hackathon in 2022. "I basically went start to finish, I think, four or five hours total," he says. He shipped the website, put it on a public URL, and published a tweet that included a short video showing the tool working for an address with a large number of airdrops. The tweet went viral.

The virality was not accidental. Botsford crafted the tweet "really intentionally," showing a result that was both impressive and useful. The video teased what was possible while also making viewers feel that they might be leaving money on the table. "There's almost a bit of a charitable feeling where folks were like, I want to help other people find the money they didn't know they had," he says. The tweet spread through crypto communities, and traffic arrived faster than he could respond.
