Virginia's Redistricting Referendum: A Temporary Fix or Partisan Power Grab?

Virginia voters are being asked to approve a constitutional amendment that would allow the state legislature to adopt a new congressional map drawn by Democrats. According to ABC's political director Avery Harper, the proposed map could help Democrats pick up as many as four seats, making all but one of Virginia's currently Republican-held districts tilt in favor of Democratic candidates. The state's current delegation is nearly evenly split: six Democrats and five Republicans.
