As Dr. Daneshvar explains, "People are more likely to donate their brains if they think that they have concerns about themselves or their loved ones have concerns about them." So when earlier studies reported that five out of ten donated brains showed CTE, that told us nothing about the wider universe of NFL players—it only told us about the subset who were already worried enough to donate.
