AI Summary
5 min readThe most AI-pilled CEO on Earth
Dan Shipper, CEO of Every, spends about 250 million tokens per day personally. He woke up one morning to a message from his head of operations asking if he'd spent two billion tokens overnight. He had. This isn't recklessness—it's a deliberate philosophy. "You have to be willing to waste tokens," he says. "If you're not willing to waste tokens, you're not willing to discover new things."
The two-phone system and reading with AI
Shipper runs a two-phone setup. His iPhone 15 stays at work. When he gets home, he picks up an iPhone 13 with no cell plan—just Wi-Fi, ChatGPT, and Claude. No browsing, no doomscrolling. "It's a big life hack," he says. He previously tried a brick phone, and this is his latest attempt at that lifestyle while staying deeply AI-pilled.
His morning routine shows how AI changes intellectual work. He's reading Heidegger's Being and Time, which he calls "fucking impossible to understand." His previous method involved a custom-built app that linked the text to lectures by philosopher Hubert Dreyfus. Now he just reads passages aloud into ChatGPT's voice mode and asks, "What the fuck does this mean?" The model explains each sentence, waits for him, and lets him explore without a screen. "I think there's so many places to go here with using it as a companion to do intellectual exploration," he says.
