The job market is harder than it has been in 37 years—244 people apply for the average open role, and a machine reads your resume before a human ever does. If it lacks the right keywords, it disappears. If it is stuffed with keywords, hiring managers throw it out. The host of Silicon Valley Girl asked the people who run companies employing more than 30,000 people what actually gets someone hired in 2026. Ryan Roslansky, who ran LinkedIn for six years, confirmed that the most requested feature from members has always been "show me what a typical career path looks like." But his data shows there is no such thing. Skills for a specific role on LinkedIn have changed more than 25 percent in the last few years alone, and they are expected to change by 70 percent by 2030. The old linear path is gone, and being findable on a profile is not the same as being chosen.
