Scary Stories - Nightshift

On his first solo night shift at a gas station, a man trying to save money for a move to Minneapolis notices a box full of name tags from dozens of former employees. Then a man with bloodshot eyes stands inches from the front door, which won't open. A woman named Angie calls to warn him that something inside the store is coming to kill him—and that the people outside are its previous victims.

The trap and the contradictory escape

The narrator's supervisor, Drader, leaves him alone for his first unsupervised night shift. After finishing his tasks early, he finds a box of name tags in the manager's office—hundreds of them, all from employees who have come and gone. This is the first clue that something is wrong, though he dismisses it as high turnover.

When a man in a rough red shirt appears outside the front door and simply stares, the narrator waves, calls out, and eventually threatens to call the police. The man does not respond. Then his phone rings. The caller is Angie, a former employee who says she worked the same shift. She tells him that in a few hours, something will come for him, and he needs to leave immediately. When he looks beyond the first man, he sees a dozen more people lumbering out of the woods.
