Scary Stories - Cursed

The first story in this episode of Scary Stories is told by a 30-year-old registered nurse who, as a new graduate, moved from a tiny Midwestern town to New Orleans for the party scene and the adrenaline of working in an emergency room. On a quiet Friday night with less than an hour left of his shift, an elderly man was wheeled in, smelling of death with a rotting wound and fluid on his lungs. As the man coded and died, the doctor and a coworker named Andre went to inform the family. The older woman, who had been wailing in another language, blamed them for her husband's death. Andre later told the nurse that she was a practitioner of voodoo and had cursed them all. The doctor and nurse laughed it off, but Andre took it seriously. A few weeks later, the doctor died in his sleep from a massive cerebral hemorrhage. He had been young and healthy. Andre then told the nurse that one of them was next. That night, Andre fell asleep at the wheel and plowed into oncoming traffic. The nurse quit his job and moved home, getting a blessing from his priest. Nine years later, he still doesn't know if the deaths were coincidences.
