SC EP:1283 Seeking Ontario's Bigfoot

David Andricht, founder of Seeking Ontario's Bigfoot, came to the Sasquatch Chronicles podcast with a trunk full of audio files and a story about a set of sharpened sticks he found crossing a game trail two hours north of Toronto. The sticks were hardwood, about three feet long, and had been chewed into conical points. Four of them were arranged in pairs, crossing each other across the center of the trail at a height that would gut a running deer. There were no signs of human hunting activity in the area. Andricht’s conclusion: if these animals are real, they are using tools to increase their kill efficiency.

How he got into the research

Andricht did not start as a believer. He was a GIS specialist living in Toronto who wanted to get back into nature. He reached out to Peter Smith of the Ontario Wildlife Field Research Organization, who gave him locations to check for cougar activity. On his first solo outing, Andricht heard a series of definitive tree knocks. When he reported back, Smith showed him a map of Bigfoot reports from that same area spanning thirty years.
