A woman named Graciela tells the story of the night she and her boyfriend stopped at a scenic overlook on a remote road between two small towns. The moon was enormous and bright, and they wanted to photograph it. The photos came out blurry, so they gave up and just stood watching the landscape in silence. Then they heard a voice from the barranco below. It was a woman’s voice, calm and inviting, calling “Hey! Come here.” They looked down and saw something moving through the brush, climbing the steep slope on all fours—but not crawling normally. It propelled itself with its arms, launching forward over rocks and branches without slowing, its legs barely following. As it got closer, they could see it was a woman with long hair, her head raised, looking directly at them. The whole thing lasted maybe two or three seconds. Her boyfriend grabbed her arm and yanked her into the car. He sped away, his hands shaking. A few kilometers later, he developed a severe headache and chest tightness. His blood pressure had spiked dangerously. They went to his aunt’s house in the next town, where she treated him. When they told her what they had seen, she said she had lived in the region her whole life and had never heard a single legend about that curve or that barranco.
