The Democratic Socialists of America has grown from roughly 5,000 members a decade ago to more than 120,000 today. New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani, a millennial Muslim immigrant from Uganda who won office in January 2026, is arguably the most famous Democratic socialist currently in power. After his win, at least eight congressional primary victories went to DSA-backed candidates. A 2026 Gallup poll found that 43% of Americans now hold a positive view of socialist ideas—the highest level since Gallup began tracking the question in 2010—with 57% of 18-to-34-year-olds viewing socialism positively. The argument of this episode is that socialism is not merely an economic system but a competing theology that misunderstands human nature, and that Christians must recognize both its theological errors and its historical consequences.

With midterm elections just around the corner, it’s critical to understand a dangerous ideology gaining ground among young people. In this episode, Allie clearly explains what socialism actually is — and how figures like Zohran Mamdani and AOC package it to sound appealing. She contrasts their rhetoric with the historical record in places like the Soviet Union, China, Cambodia, and Zimbabwe. Allie also addresses the claim that “Jesus would be a socialist,” showing from Scripture why that idea is false and how socialism stands in direct opposition to biblical Christianity.Do you have a question for Allie?
