The house and the infestation

Owen’s ordeal began when he moved his family into a 1952 Victorian house in Nampa, Idaho, after a financial crisis. The Catholic Church had insisted on blessing the house immediately—a demand he now sees as a red flag. Within three weeks, the activity started. The first sign was a teenage boy in a bright canary shirt running past a window at a height that would require a 12-to-15-foot-tall person. From there, the events became daily: a window above the washing machine opened ten times a day despite being latched, an electric sander turned on by itself and jumped around the garage, and the family heard the front door open and the sound of high heels clicking across the floor—only to find the door locked and the wife still at work.
