Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Windsor Johnston. Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to a ceasefire, according to a senior U.S. official who declined to be identified. The conflict in southern Lebanon had become a major sticking point in peace talks between the U.S. and Iran, with Tehran insisting that any broader agreement address the violence there. But the deal appears fragile: the White House said plans for upcoming technical talks have not been finalized, and either side is threatening to strike each other. A signing ceremony in Switzerland was called off, as the Swiss government took extensive security measures to host the event, drawing hundreds of journalists. The agreement is on "very shaky ground."

The Barack Obama Presidential Center opens to the public in Chicago today. The 19-acre campus is expected to draw visitors from around the world. NPR's Tamra Keith, who visited earlier this month, said the center captures the vibe of the Obama years "as if the past decade never happened." But Obama himself said he doesn't see it as a time capsule. The exhibits, he said, are not meant to evoke nostalgia for "some gauzy bygone era, some unattainable past that we can dream about and say, 'Oh, we miss you, Barack.'" Instead, he wants to remind visitors of what's possible.
