Evening Before the Disappearance

Alexia and Jonathan attended a joyful family dinner at her parents' house for her nephew's second birthday. Despite recent fertility struggles—including hormone treatments that caused emotional volatility and a miscarriage—Alexia felt happy around her sister Stephanie, brother-in-law Gregory, parents Isabel and Jean-Pierre, and the toddler James. Jonathan arrived late from work. They left around 11 p.m., with Alexia leaving her car there after drinking.
